Custom Shoulder-and-Neck Rigid Gift Boxes

A shoulder-and-neck box suits products that benefit from a controlled two-piece reveal and a visible or concealed inner collar. Its fit depends on several wrapped interfaces. It is a poor choice when a design requires an unverified universal gap or a guaranteed air-cushion opening feel.

Ultra-Premium Construction

Control the Shoulder, Neck and Lid Fit

Separate the base, shoulder and lid dimensions on the drawing. Wrap and lining thickness accumulate around the neck, so changing paper can alter engagement even when the board stays the same. A visible contrast band needs consistent exposure around all sides. For a heavy bottle, the inner support must carry the product; the neck's alignment function is not a substitute for a fitted base or insert.

Lift and replace the lid on the filled finished sample. Inspect band exposure, corner rubbing and whether the base follows the lid. Compare multiple samples and record the accepted fit with the actual wrap and lining specification.

The three-piece build needs a finished-fit reference because board, wrap and lining affect the neck clearance. Agree opening and retention on the loaded sample rather than promising a universal 0.3–0.5 mm gap. Confirm visible band height and any product platform in the same drawing.

Compare the simpler two-piece lid & base, or see it applied on the perfume packaging page.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly is a shoulder-neck box?

A three-piece rigid construction: the base carries a proud inner neck, and the lid floats on that neck leaving a visible reveal gap — giving the slow, cushioned lift used by flagship perfume and spirits brands.

Why does the lid lift so slowly?

Clearance depends on the board, wrap, lining and lid depth. Use the finished sample to agree opening and retention; 0.3–0.5 mm is an earlier planning reference, not a universal production tolerance or an air-cushion guarantee.

Can the neck be a contrast colour?

Yes — contrast wraps and foil band lines on the reveal gap are the signature styling options of this format.

Is it suitable for heavy bottles?

A 340 mm spirits format and nominal 2.5 mm board can be discussed as a planning example. The actual bottle weight, platform support, closure and transport conditions need a project-specific sample review.

What is the MOQ?

500 pcs per design and size. Physical samples typically take 3–5 days to prepare after the structure and specification are confirmed.
