Why Material Choice Matters
Start with weight, span, fragile features and shipping use, then select the visible surface. A thicker core cannot solve an unsuitable insert, and an attractive wrap cannot prevent movement. Ask which material performs each job and review changes against the same loaded sample brief.
Use the sample to expose material interactions: paper at a folded edge, foil on texture, glue under a light wrap and insert contact with a polished surface. Compare the accepted appearance after assembly and normal handling. A set of individual swatches does not show these combined effects.
Material should be reviewed together with logo printing options, foil stamping and custom packaging inserts, because paper surface, board thickness and product support can change the final result.
