Choose the box by what goes inside
Separate artwork compliance, physical fit and surface finish into distinct approvals. A pump bottle needs clearance at the actuator; a compact needs access without finger pressure on its face; a glass jar needs suitable support. Small legal or product copy can become difficult to read on dark inks, metallic surfaces or folded panels. Preserve the destination-specific information supplied by the responsible brand, and review it on the actual finished dieline rather than treating decoration approval as a labelling sign-off.
Load the closed containers, inspect readable panels and scan the intended barcodes. Check pumps, caps, foil registration and score cracking after the selected coating. A primary-container or artwork change should be reviewed against the approved packaging revision.

Rigid box or folding carton?
A rigid box is greyboard wrapped in printed or textured paper. It does not fold flat, feels heavy in the hand and is kept after opening, which is why it suits gift sets, PR kits and premium launches. A folding carton is printed paperboard that ships flat and is glued into shape. It is the standard retail box for a single cream, serum or lipstick on a shelf.

Inserts for bottles, droppers and palettes
The insert is what stops a glass bottle from rattling. Send the exact products, including caps and pumps, so cavities are cut to the real size.
- EVA foam: holds glass bottles and droppers tightly; can be velvet-flocked.
- Molded pulp: paper-fibre option for skincare sets; confirm binders, coatings and attachments for a plastic-free specification.

Labelling: what goes on the box
A cosmetic box is also a label. For the US, the outer box carries the product identity and net quantity on the front, the ingredient list, the manufacturer or distributor, warnings and the MoCRA contact for adverse event reports. Finishes and brand colour
Soft-touch and matte laminations resist fingerprints and oily hands better than gloss. Foil stamping, embossing, debossing and spot UV add the detail most beauty brands use for the logo.
