Online Packaging Platforms and Factory-Direct Sourcing: Compare the Complete Offer

Compare an online packaging service and factory-direct sourcing through the complete offer: development, sample, finished construction, support and delivery responsibilities. A browser price and a factory EXW quote can describe different purchases even when the mockups look similar. Compare what the quote includes

Strategy & Sourcing

By LuxoPacks Factory Team

Compare an online packaging service and factory-direct sourcing through the complete offer: development, sample, finished construction, support and delivery responsibilities. A browser price and a factory EXW quote can describe different purchases even when the mockups look similar.

Compare what the quote includes

Normalize dimensions, material, print, finish, insert and quantity, then identify the services included. Local delivery, artwork support, tooling and import handling should remain visible. Do not remove a service from the comparison merely because one provider bundles it into the unit price.

Question Ask an online ordering service Ask a direct manufacturer
Structure Does the selected format fit the product, and can its dimensions or insert be changed? Which structure is proposed, and how will fit be checked?
Minimum quantity What minimum applies to this exact configuration? What minimum applies to each design and size?
Artwork What can the design tool approve, and who reviews print readiness? Who supplies the dieline and checks the artwork revision?
Sample Is the sample a stock reference, structural sample or printed production reference? Which materials and processes will the sample represent?
Price Are setup, finishes, packing, tax and delivery included? Which development, tooling, production and delivery charges are separate?
Responsibility Which company contracts, produces, inspects and resolves issues? Which processes are in-house, and who controls subcontracted steps?

Use the same destination and delivery deadline for both quotations. A lower factory price can still produce a higher landed cost once packing volume, transport and import responsibilities are included.

Look beyond the preview image

Use the preview for what it can answer: artwork position and general layout. Product movement, closure feel, lining and usable clearance need a relevant physical sample. Decide whether the sample represents the quoted process and materials before relying on it for production approval.

For a custom insert, non-standard proportions or multiple finishes, request a drawing and physical sample from whichever supplier can meet the brief. Confirm the material, usable internal dimensions, removal clearance and approval criteria. An online supplier may offer additional services outside its standard configurator; ask before assuming they are unavailable.

Identify the people and records behind the order

Ask who reviews the artwork, who approves material substitutions and who receives an inspection report. Record the contracting entity, proposed production location and any separate receiving or export company.

Factory access can help technical communication, but ownership of a machine does not prove that every box will meet the approved sample. An intermediary can also coordinate a documented production process. Evaluate the actual controls and the supplier's responsibilities rather than treating either category as automatically reliable.

Compare sampling and delivery milestones

LuxoPacks sample production normally takes 3–5 days after specification and artwork approval. Bulk production normally takes 15–25 days after sample and order approval. Revisions, material procurement and transport need their own allowance.

For every offer, separate drawing approval, physical sampling, production completion, inspection, freight handover and warehouse arrival. Compare the same sample type and delivered date; a stock reference sample and a custom printed prototype are different deliverables.

Which route fits the project?

An online ordering service can be suitable when its available format, minimum quantity and artwork workflow fit the order, and the quoted delivered scope is convenient for the buyer.

LuxoPacks is an option when the project needs custom paper packaging at 500 pcs or more per design and size, with the structure, materials, insert and finish developed for the product. Compare its complete quotation with other suitable suppliers. There is no published fixed percentage saving to assume.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a direct factory always cheaper?

No fixed advantage can be inferred from the business model. Compare the same specification, setup, samples, packing, freight and delivery responsibilities. Include the work your own team must perform to make the offers comparable.

What can an online 3D design tool confirm?

It can help communicate artwork placement and the selected format. Physical fit, material feel, closure, printed color and transport protection need the appropriate sample and testing. Ask the provider what is included beyond the preview.

Can I order fewer than 500 boxes from LuxoPacks?

The current production minimum is 500 pcs per design and size. If the requirement is smaller, compare stock packaging or another supplier's confirmed small-run option, or use sample development to settle the design before committing to production.

What should I send for a meaningful comparison?

Send the product dimensions and weight, box style, material, artwork, finish, insert, quantity per design and size, packing requirements, destination and required arrival date. Ask every supplier to list exclusions and identify the sample used for approval.

Compare an offer for your project

Email info@luxopacks.com or contact LuxoPacks on WhatsApp with the same brief you are sharing with other suppliers. Review the specification and delivered scope together before deciding.

Choose the service model after comparing the same deliverable and the work left for your team. Confirm current terms with each provider rather than assuming a platform name or factory location determines the outcome.
