Retention Packaging
Manage Packaging Across Subscription Cycles
Separate the components that stay stable from those that change every cycle. A common mailer with a revised sleeve or card may reduce obsolete artwork, while adjustable dividers can suit variable assortments at the cost of extra packing decisions. Return seals are worthwhile only where the opened pack remains useful. Compare the whole cycle: inbound storage, erection, filling, label application, customer opening and any return step.
Trial the smallest and largest planned monthly assortments at the fulfilment station. Check movement, void fill, closing effort and label placement. Time the actual packing sequence and record the allowed product envelope for future cycles.
Compare a stable base box with replaceable sleeves or cards using the actual artwork quantities, component inventory and packing labour. Define the board and loaded-pack assessment for the expected contents range rather than assuming either a seventy-percent saving or route-specific test result. See the 3PL-ready packaging handoff checklist when confirming fulfillment requirements with your warehouse.
Volume programs pair with full-print corrugated mailers; premium tiers step to collapsible magnetic formats.

Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
How do we refresh themes without repaying tooling?
A common base with changing sleeves or lid cards can reduce obsolete print, but introduces component inventory and assembly work. Compare quoted costs and forecast quantities; no fixed percentage saving is assumed.
Will the box survive rough couriers?
State the contents range and distribution route, then agree the board proposal and any loaded-pack verification. A board ECT value is not evidence that a complete subscription pack has passed a drop assessment.
Can interiors change monthly?
Separate a printed story panel from a product-holding insert. A card can change the message without altering fit, while a new bottle or jar can require a revised tray. Define the approved contents envelope and version-control the sleeve, insert and pack-out sheet for every cycle.
Is plastic-free possible?
A paper-based design can reduce plastic, but review coatings, adhesives and the tear system as well as the board. Confirm the complete material list for a plastic-free claim and check recycling acceptance in the destination.
What is the MOQ?
500 pcs per design and size. List each sleeve theme and its required quantity separately.
