Seasonal Planning
By LuxoPacks Production Team October 2026
Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin around February 8, 2027, two days after Chinese New Year on February 6. That overlap decides the whole schedule for Ramadan calendar boxes made in China. Factories begin winding down in mid-January, so calendars have to be produced, inspected and on the water before then. For a 30-drawer calendar shipped by sea to Europe or North America, that means sample and decide in October 2026, place the bulk order by early November, and ship by mid-December.
This guide gives the reverse timeline, compares the four calendar structures buyers ask about, and lists what to send for an accurate quote.

Date note: the first day of Ramadan depends on the sighting of the new moon and can differ by a day between countries. Plan on February 8, 2027, and treat any calendar that needs to be in shops before day one as due in market by mid-to-late January.
Why Ramadan 2027 is harder to plan than usual
Identify the two calendars in the plan: the customer’s seasonal selling window and the supplier’s manufacturing and shipping availability. The assumptions discussed below support planning, but a calendar product adds compartment, numbering and packing approvals that a simple gift box may not require.
- Chinese New Year lands first. As our CNY 2027 deadline guide explains, the practical disruption runs from mid-January to early or mid March 2027. An order that slips into January cannot be remade or topped up before Ramadan.
- A calendar is not a simple box. A 30-drawer cabinet means 30 drawers to wrap, fit and number, plus the outer cabinet and any insert, mostly by hand. Treat production time as longer than a standard rigid box: for calendars we confirm sample and bulk timing after reviewing your structure, rather than quoting a standard figure.
Eid al-Fitr is expected around March 9-10, 2027, while Chinese factories are still returning to full output. Eid gift boxes therefore need the same pre-holiday timing as the calendars.
The reverse timeline: October 2026 to February 2027
| When | What must happen | Why |
|---|---|---|
| October 2026 | Fix drawer count, drawer interior size, structure and filling; request a structure review and physical sample | 30 drawers to fit-check; one revision round still fits |
| Late Oct - early Nov 2026 | Approve the sample and print artwork; place the bulk order | Production slot ahead of the pre-CNY squeeze |
| November 2026 | Bulk production and hand assembly; book sea freight 3-4 weeks ahead | Freight space tightens before CNY |
| Late Nov - mid Dec 2026 | Pre-shipment inspection; departures for Europe and North America | Calendar packaging guides plan about 5-7 weeks of ocean freight |
| By first week of Jan 2027 | Last departures for shorter sea lanes; confirm door-to-door transit with your forwarder | Factories and trucking wind down from mid-January |
| Mid - late Jan 2027 | Calendars in warehouses and shops | Families buy before day one |
| Feb 6, 2027 | Chinese New Year | Confirm the supplier's closure and restart dates; do not rely on a remake during the holiday |
| ~Feb 8 - ~Mar 9, 2027 | Ramadan, then Eid al-Fitr | Eid packaging has the same deadline |
Build backward from usable warehouse stock, using the current route quotation and confirmed production milestones. The previously cited freight interval is an example, not the transit promise for this order. Keep sample revisions, inspection and final cargo handover visible before committing to the launch date.
If your calendars are going to the Gulf, the sea leg is usually shorter than to Europe or North America, but the factory deadline does not move: production still has to finish before the mid-January wind-down.
Choosing the structure
Ramadan calendars sold today fall into four main structures. The choice changes how many parts there are to assemble, how the boxes ship and what they can hold.
| Structure | What it looks like | Best for | Planning note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Arch / mosque-outline cabinet | 30 drawers under an arch-shaped top with a crescent and border | Family calendars, premium retail | The shaped top needs its own cutting die; see our arch design |
| Rectangular drawer cabinet | A straight cabinet with a grid of 30 numbered drawers | Dates and confectionery brands, corporate volume | Packs and ships more efficiently; see our lantern design |
| Outer box with 30 small boxes | One large box holding 30 individually numbered small boxes | Value retail, mixed gifts | Simpler parts, but 30 small boxes still have to be packed in day order |
| Premium food calendar | Finely finished drawers holding dates or chocolates, sold as a gift | Gift and corporate buyers | Food in every drawer, so wrapping and insert material matter (below) |
Bateel's Nura Ramadan calendar, a 30-drawer box of dates, is a well-known example of the premium food style. Whatever the structure, ask for the cabinet to be strong enough to keep: a calendar that returns to the shelf each year carries your logo for more than one Ramadan.
Sizing the drawers
Start from the largest item that has to fit in a single drawer, not from a standard cabinet size. Measure it with its wrapper, then add clearance so the drawer slides without catching. One US packaging maker's reference for a drawer-style calendar is about 50 x 50 mm per cell, but a stuffed date, a chocolate bar and a small gift all need different drawers. Our gift box size guide explains interior dimensions and clearance.
- 30 equal drawers are the simplest to produce and to fill in day order.
- Mixed drawer sizes (for example, larger drawers on Fridays or a bigger final drawer for Eid) are possible but each size is a separate part to make and check.
- Weight matters: 30 filled drawers can be heavy, so tell the factory the filled weight so it can choose the board and the drawer construction.
Dates and chocolates in the drawers
Most Ramadan calendars hold food. Keep each piece individually wrapped or sealed, and say exactly what goes in each drawer (for example, "one stuffed date in a foil wrapper"). That lets the factory confirm the food-contact requirements for the drawer lining or insert at quotation. Our guide to food-contact-safe chocolate and confectionery boxes covers the questions to ask, and our insert comparison covers the insert materials.
Design motifs
The common visual language is a crescent, stars, lanterns and an arch outline, often in deep blue or green with gold foil. Two practical points:
- Avoid sacred text and real mosques. Calendars are opened, emptied and sometimes thrown away, so most brands keep Quranic verses and images of specific mosques off the box.
- Supply Arabic text as final artwork. If you want "Ramadan Kareem" or other Arabic wording, send it as checked, outlined artwork from a native reader. Never let anyone retype it from a screenshot. Our artwork and dieline guide explains how to prepare print-ready files.
If you are already late
- Choose the rectangular cabinet over a shaped top: one less custom cutting die and easier packing.
- Cut the finishing steps: printed numerals instead of foil on 30 drawer fronts, ribbon or die-cut finger pulls instead of metal rings.
- Split the order: ship the quantity you can make before the wind-down and keep the rest for Ramadan 2028.
- Start Ramadan 2028 now. Ramadan 2028 is expected to begin in late January 2028, again right around Chinese New Year (January 26, 2028), so next year's deadlines are even earlier.

What to send for a quote
- Structure: arch cabinet, rectangular cabinet, outer box with small boxes, or your own design.
- Drawer count and layout: 30 equal drawers, or which drawers differ.
- Contents: the largest item per drawer with its wrapper, its size and the filled weight.
- Food contact: whether drawers touch food directly or only wrapped pieces.
- Finishes: foil numerals, foil crescent or border, drawer pulls, logo position.
- Artwork: final files, including any Arabic text as outlined artwork.
- Quantity, destination port and the date you need the calendars in market.
With these, a factory can review the structure, set the drawer sizes and give you dates you can plan around. Compare suppliers on the same specification, and get the sample, production and shipping dates in writing.
Frequently Asked Questions
When does Ramadan 2027 start?
Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin around February 8, 2027. The exact first day depends on the sighting of the new moon and can differ by a day between countries. Eid al-Fitr is expected around March 9-10, 2027.
When should I order Ramadan calendar boxes for 2027?
Treat October 2026 as the decision month. Fix the drawer count, drawer size and structure, and get a physical sample in October; approve it and place the bulk order by late October or early November; ship from China between late November and mid-December for Europe and North America. The latest departures for short sea lanes are the first week of January 2027, because factories and trucking wind down for Chinese New Year.
Why does Chinese New Year matter for Ramadan 2027 packaging?
Chinese New Year 2027 falls on February 6, two days before Ramadan is expected to begin. A supplier closure can remove the time available to remake a failed batch or replenish stock before Ramadan. Confirm the actual factory cutoffs and leave room for inspection and rework before freight handover. Eid al-Fitr packaging needs the same pre-holiday timing.
How many drawers does a Ramadan calendar box have?
Usually 30, one for each day of the month. Some brands add a larger drawer or compartment for Eid. The drawer count and drawer size are set from the contents and confirmed after a structure review and physical sample.
Can a Ramadan calendar box hold dates or chocolates?
Yes. Dates, chocolates and sweets are the most common fillings. Put them in individual wrappers or sealed pieces and state the exact food and wrapping in your request, so the food-contact requirements for the drawer and insert material can be confirmed at quotation.
